REVIEW: THE FACE SHOP CHARACTER MASK - MONKEY

Hello lovelies!

I've never use a character mask before since I always assume that they are not that functional except for the attractive packaging. I was afraid to spend my money on something which I can't be quite sure of, especially masks. So when I received this mask in one of my previous Random Box order from Jolse, I was actually thankful. Finally, I get to try the mask without paying for the full price.

The Face Shop Character Mask - Monkey

Description:

The moisturizing soothing character mask moisturizes and soothes the irritated skin with apple extract rich in moisture and vitamins.

Dermatologist Tested & Formula without 6 additives (Sulfate, Talc, Mineral Oil, Quaternium, Polyacrylamide, Paraffin)

Triple Solution Essence (Apple extract, Hyaluronic acid, Collagen)

DIRECTIONS:
Wash face and apply toner.
Pull out the mask and carefully place it on the face.
Remove after 10-15 minutes and tap lightly to absorb the remaining essence into the skin.

PACKAGING:
There's a face of a monkey printed at the front with a small image of an apple. It's quite plain for a character mask but at least the brand's name was printed down below.
You can find some more information at the back where the upper half is mostly in korean language while the lower part is in English.
The expiration date can also be found at the bottom, though you have to really squint your eyes to get a better view on it.
Oh, and it's also difficult to tear the packaging.

REVIEW:
When I first tore the packaging, the scent immediately hit my nose. The mask obviously smells like fresh apple. So yummy up until the point that I wanted to eat it.
The sides of my face have a nice fit, except for the eye area which I found it to be quite big for my eyes.
The sheet mask doesn’t fall off from my face.
The essence leaves a sticky residue so I won't recommend this for morning usage as the essence does take a while for it to fully soak into the skin and thus this will affect the application of your makeup.
After patting the remaining essence onto my skin, my face immediately feels more hydrated and more plumper and I kept on touching it non-stop.
However, the effect only lasted for a day.

OVERALL:
Hm, not bad for a face mask. I wouldn't repurchase it because there are about billions of masks to try and this mask is not that great, to be honest.

[JOLSE] Keep in Touch White Blending Base Cushion Review

Hello beauties!

Today I want to share my review on a cushion from Keep in Touch. I've heard of this brand but I never tried any of the products so this is my first time using one of their products which is the White Blending Base Cushion.

Description:

Instant self-blending white cushion is combination of Whitening Moisture Base to brighten your complexion and Color Cover Base to correct uneven skin tone.

This customized dual blending cushion design is formulated with the patented Hybrid-Sharing Technology, stabilized serum-based moisturizers and cover base work together to provide ultimate hydration, while working to reduce discoloration for more even, uniform skin.

SIZE:
This cushion contains 15g of product, which I'm quite thankful for.

SHADES:
There are two shades available based on the info card given inside the box:-

#01 Ivory Pure: For the fairest porcelain skin with pink light undertones to skin with pink undertones.
#02 Ivory Warm: For the lightest skin with yellow-olive undertones to medium skin with yellow-olive undertones.

I got mine in shade #02 Ivory Warm.

WHAT IT DOES:
Keep In Touch claims that this cushion has both whitening essence and color cover base which can give a much more brighter and even skin tone. Dark circles, blemishes and freckles can be covered all day long by using this cushion. It gives a subtle glow along with a milk-like whitening effect to your skin. Not only that but this Keep in Touch cushion also provides moisture to the skin and make your face looks more elastic.

HOW TO USE:
Use the enclosed applicator, spread evenly and gently tap.

INGREDIENTS LIST:
You can refer to cosdna for the ingredients list, where irritants and acne triggers identified by them has already been indicated accordingly.

PACKAGING:

It comes in a very cute cardboard box with a big heart printed on it. You can find the stylish compact on the inside with the same design as the box except for the colourful lines(?) surrounding the heart.
The compact has a clear UV coating which protects it from external scratches or traces of fingerprints so there's nothing to worry about.
The silver line circling the compact makes it look more elegant which I quite love. And it's quite reflective too as you can see from the image above!
There is a seal protecting the mirror inside so you can always remove it to use the mirror properly.
It has a very well-closer inner cap which is good for preventing evaporation.
Like most cushions, the White Blending Base Cushion comes with a protective sticker that needs to be removed before using.
The manufactured date can be found at the back. As usual, the product should be used up within 12 months after opening it.
The White Blending Base Cushion comes with a much bigger yet plain white puff.

REVIEW:

Below are the swatches:-

The Keep In Touch White Blending Base Cushion has a SPF50+ PA+++ which helps to prevent aging caused by sun damage.
It has a nice and pleasant smell, a bit floral. It's not strong, at least not to me, and it goes away rather quickly once applied.
It has an interesting concept where you can use the Color Cover Base alone and use the Whitening Moisture Base as a highlighter. Or you can either use both and have a flawless looking skin.

This cushion has a good coverage, from low to medium and can be buildable.
It gives me satin finish and I'm quite satisfied with that.
However, this cushion tends to cling onto your dry patches after several hours but it's not that noticeable.
What I really love about this cushion is that it managed to cover the redness on my cheeks.
If you have a combination skin, I would recommend this to you since it's not too drying and has a moisturizing effect.

Below are some tips for application of the cushion and also how to change to a new cushion case:-

PROS:
Has SPF50+ PA+++
Good coverage
Doesn't break me out
Has a pleasant smell
Beautiful packaging
Light on the skin
Travel friendly
Moisturizing formula
No stickiness
Easy to blend

CONS:
The white packaging may get dirty
Can settle into fine lines after several hours
Not suitable for those who are sensitive to floral fragrance
Lack of shade options
The darker shade out of the two may still be a tad bit light for some people
Doesn't help to minimize the look of pores

OVERALL:
I find this to be a decent cushion. Will I purchase it again? Nope. I rather try different cushions instead of buying this again because like I said, it's just a meh product for me.

Mini haul from Missbeautykorea

Greetings my dearest readers!

Today, I have another mini haul from a brand new K-beauty online shopping mall, missbeautykorea.

I received an introductory email from them last month and as always, I was curious and excited whenever there's a new site where I can go online shopping. I decided to ordered a few items and luckily for me, they were having a promotion for a free shipping upgrade from Standard to EMS for the first 100 orders. Of course, you have to pay for the standard shipping fee.

In terms of their customer service, here's my experience:

I made an order on 24/07/17 and received a confirmation email on the same day. However on 28/07/17, I received a message at my account at missbeautykorea stating that there's a stock delay for some of the items so they will do their best to ship it next week. I'm fine with it since I'm in no rush for the items to arrive quickly.
After waiting for a week, I saw that my order status was finally changed to shipped on 04/08/17. They also provided me with a tracking number.
And so, 3 days later, voila! The package has finally arrived at the post office. Now, I'm quite impressed with missbeautykorea because seriously, 3 days?! The fastest EMS shipping that I ever experienced was about 5-7 days and yes, that explains why I WAS SUPER WOW-ED by them.

So let's see what I had been purchasing from the website.

They marked the package as a gift and put a lower value instead of the original price that I paid for. Sweet!

A peek on the inside. They really bubble wrapped my items nicely with extra bubble wraps being placed at the bottom and in the middle. The only things that they didn't wrap is the mask and nail stickers. Instead, they sealed them inside a transparent plastic .

Overall, I quite like my shopping experience with missbeautykorea. The price is affordable and currently, they're having a sale on various brands so go check them out! I also love the fact that they also provides tax refund service which is rare. YOU GO, MISSBEAUTYKOREA! 💕

I will definitely buy from them again in the future, no doubt about that.

July Empties

Hello, my lovelies!

Another month has passed and yet I have another empties but this time I only had one full sized item while the others are mostly masks and samples.

Let's start with the full sized item first.

Innisfree Green Tea Mint Fresh Scalp Scaler

Description:

Enriched with green tea and mint extracts from Jeju Island that delivers freshness the scalp and hair.

Thoughts:

It smells so good, like minty scent or something. It leaves my scalp feeling fresh and clean. I tend to have oily scalp (yuck) and this product comes to the rescue! The smell lingers for 3-4 days which I don't mind at all since I love it. But I wouldn't recommend this to those who cannot stand the strong smell of fragrance.

3W Clinic Fresh Mask Sheet (Green Tea)

Description:

This is a sheet-type mask with a variety of aesthetic constituents including green tea extracts. It will improve tired looking skin, leaving it smooth and hydrated. This hypoallergenic mask sheet stays attached to the face along with the natural skin texture, and will provide a soothing comfort for your skin.

The Face Shop The Solution Hydrating Face Mask

Description:

This face mask features a light-as-air sheet that feels soft and weightless on the skin. A serum containing Hyaluronic Acid helps dry, thirsty skin lock in moisture. (Formulated without added parabens)

Thoughts:

It smells refreshing and there's a bit of a floral smell. My pores are tightened and not visible for the whole 3 days straight.

It also brightens my face and my skin felt moisturized without feeling any tacky residue. The mask was wet with essence which I quite love!

Usually I used sheet mask right after applying essence but this time I used this mask directly after applying toner on my face. And when I wake up the next morning, my face felt softer and smoother. Thumbs up for this one! Will definitely repurchase.

The Face Shop Bio-Cell Recovery Face Mask

Description:

This recovery face mask features a naturally adhesive bio-cellulose sheet and a Madecassoside serum that effectively soothes irritated skin due to exposure to the elements. (Dermatologist Tested / Formulated without added parabens)

Thoughts:

OMG I LOVE this mask! It smells refreshing and there's a slight fruity scent on it, I think? The fit adheres well on my face. I used this when my face was swollen and irritated (due to bad reaction from using a product) and this mask immediately soothes my skin. Even the redness on my cheeks completely disappeared after I took the mask off and pat the remaining serum for it to absorbs fully. My skin no longer felt rough and leaves my skin soft like the way it did before I had those bad reactions. Will definitely repurchase this!

Nature Republic Given By Nature Chestnut Shell Mask Sheet (Pore Tightening)

Description:

This chestnut shell mask sheet makes the skin feel smooth and soft as tightening enlarged pores and protecting the epidermis with its astringent extract rich in tannins.

Thoughts:

It smells powdery and feels cooling to my skin. It's still wet with essence when I took it off. What I did notice is how my face looked more brighten and have that glowy look. It also does what it claim to do which was to tighten pores as my pores look quite invisible. One thing I don't like is that my face felt sticky afterwards. But the next day, lots of people were commenting on how glowy my skin looks like so I guess this mask has an extra benefit to it.

The Face Shop Real Nature Face Mask (Red Ginseng)

Description:

The mask sheet drenched in serum with revitalizing Ginseng provides skin with a boost of energy and vitality. (Drenched with emulsified moisturizing serum / Formula without added parabens)

Thoughts:

I hate the strong herbal smell! But I love the firming effect it gave onto my skin. It absorbs quickly too but this enlarged my pores the next day! Ugh. Not going to repurchase this. Totally.

The Face Shop Real Nature Face Mask (White Tea)

Description:

The mask sheet drenched in serum with young White Tea leaves brightens and clears skin tone. (Drenched in clear serum / Formula without added parabens)

Thoughts:

This mask has a fresh scent to it. It did live up to its claim at brightening my face after usage but that only lasted for a day. So, it's a just a meh mask for me.

Rating: 5/10

Now, let's move on to samples.

Nature Republic Bath & Nature Body Wash (Peach)

Description:

Bath & Nature is a moisturizing body care line containing shea butter,olive oil, and so on.

Thoughts:

It has a gel-like consistency and quite transparent in colour. It smells like kids shower bath. Not moisturizing enough so it's a no for me.

Healing Bird Botanical Shampoo Freesia & Green Bouquet

This smells awful. Like, I really can't stand it. I only used half of it. So, off to the rubbish bin it is.

Tony Moly Make HD Silk Argan Oil

Description:

This is highly enriched argan oil essence for the damaged hair. Fermented vegetable oil give rich moisturizing & nutrition to the damaged hair. So it makes hair soft & sleek & healthy. Plus it is speedily absorbed in the hair since it has excellent absorption.

Thoughts:

It smells good for the hair, love it! It makes my hair soft and silky smooth to the touch without any dryness/roughness. A little goes a long way. I don't really care much about hair products so I might consider in purchasing the full sized item.

Description:

It gives a deep nutrition.

Wrinkle care / whitening

Phoenix and peony was ornamental of the empress clothing, and It is decorated in the case.

functional cosmetics Solid formulation melts seamlessly into skin temperature, it helps smooth the skin.

linseed & silver & gold, mushroom gives the skin elasticity by special prescriptions.

Thoughts:

My face feel soft to the touch but the herbal smell lingers even after a few minutes of applying it into your face. Alas, I'm so glad to received this sample from Jolse. The full size product is soooo expensive so I'm thankful for having the opportunity to try this cream.
